How can mornings be so still, so kind?

The sun rises from its hiding place,

Yawns across the trees, its warmth aligned,

As birds sing praises, filling empty space.

No voices echo in the air today.

Not even laughter, just a quiet tune.

The peace that holds this early hour at bay,

Will soon be lost beneath the midday swoon.

As time moves on, the calm will start to break,

The rush of life will drown out nature’s song.

The sun will run, the wind will cease to wake,

And night will rise where shadows now belong.

The darkness hums with voices I don’t know,

A language foreign, rising with the breeze.

We lie in wait for morning’s gentle glow,

A peace unpromised, whispered on the trees.

    8:39PM

“8:39PM” unravels the silence of despair through haunting verses that echo betrayal, loss, and inner torment. With imagery of shadows, frozen nights, and broken vows, the poem embodies the raw voice of pain and truth, a dirge for a soul shackled by lies and desperate for release.

A World of Shadows and Silence

In Distant Planet and Darkness Descends, Dave White and Kiana Jimenez craft parallel visions of isolation and loss. The alien cliffs under a red sun mirror the poem’s suffocating night, both capturing the vast emptiness of worlds abandoned and the despair of hope extinguished, yet still lingering in shadow.

    Letters That Never Return

Letters That Never Return" speaks to the ache of longing, unspoken words, and the silence that lingers when love remains unanswered. Paired with Dave White’s illustration Beach Dog, the poem reflects on memory, loss, and the fleeting nature of connection—like letters adrift, never finding their way back.
