Drowning in Deadlines

White, Dave. Time Crunch. August 20, 2024, Dave White Illustrations.

I feel as if though I am drowning in
Deadlines
&
Promises.
My red eyes, raw and weary, never rest.

I am burdened by the weight of
Time
&
Commitment.
My determination is slipping from my grasp.

Does my youth excuse my mistakes?

I feel as if though I am drowning in
Surrounded by voices whispering all day and night.
Telling me, I have never made them proud.
Suffocating in the silent, unspoken disappointment in their eyes.

It’s depressing, don’t you think?
These feelings of anger and hurt are astounding.
Washing over me in overwhelming relentless tides.
The pain locking me in with a paralyzing ache.

I feel as if though I am drowning in
Deadlines
&
Promises.
The work, endless, pulls me deeper.

I wander through the darkness,
Seeking, hoping – yet unsure what for.
Perhaps a moment of peace, or a glimpse of pride,
A reminder that midst this chaos, I’m alive.

Confronting the Shadow That Shapes Us

Dave White’s Self-Growth and Kiana Jimenez’s I Am Your Disease confront the brutal reality of healing. Where the poem gives voice to addiction and inner destruction, the illustration reveals growth as resistance—messy, painful, and defiant. Together, they show that becoming whole means facing the shadow, not pretending it was never there.

  • Inadequate

    Inadequate

Inadequate is a raw and unflinching reflection on self-worth, trauma, and the long road to healing. Through visceral honesty and poetic defiance, it voices the battle between doubt and resilience—the journey of reclaiming one’s power from pain, transforming “I am not enough” into a quiet, steadfast truth: I am.

  • If Fate Were Kinder

    If Fate Were Kinder

A heartfelt reflection on love that could have been, If Fate Were Kinder captures the quiet ache of what never came to pass. Through tender imagery and longing words, it paints a portrait of two souls separated by circumstance, yet forever entwined by memory, desire, and the echo of possibility.
